GLIORESOLVE EANO Network Conference Showcases Cutting-Edge Glioblastoma Research

GLIORESOLVE researchers and invited experts gathered in Prague to share new insights into glioblastoma and the tumour microenvironment at EANO 2025.

The 3rd GLIORESOLVE plenary meeting and 2025 Network Conference took place at the Prague Congress Centre on 15 October as an official pre-meeting to the 20th Annual Meeting of the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO). This event brought together consortium partners, Scientific Advisory Board members and leading experts in neuro-oncology for an afternoon of high-level science and networking.

The plenary meeting took place in the morning, and gave the consortium the opportunity to review project progress as well as planning ahead for the final year of the programme. Scientific Advisory Board members Prof Monika Hegi (University of Lausanne) and Prof Joachim Steinbach (Goethe University Frankfurt) joined the discussions.

In the afternoon, the GLIORESOLVE EANO mini-conference opened with a vibrant poster session, where seven GLIORESOLVE Doctoral Candidates presented their latest research on glioblastoma tumour microenvironment subtypes, organoid and organ-on-chip models, and computational studies of therapeutic resistance.

An outstanding line-up of invited speakers followed, featuring Prof Patrick Wen (Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & Harvard Medical School), who provided an overview of novel therapies for gliomas; Prof Anna Dimberg (Uppsala University), who discussed targeting the vascular phenotype to reduce tumour spread in glioblastoma; Prof Gabriele Bergers (VIB KU Leuven), who presented her latest work on therapeutic strategies to reprogramme the tumour microenvironment; and Dr Kate Connor (Trinity College Dublin), who explored novel glioblastoma microenvironment subtypes and their potential role as immunotherapy biomarkers.

Three GLIORESOLVE Doctoral Candidates, Marta de Lucas Sanz (LIH), Mohannad Dabbour (RCSI) and Soumi Mukherjee (ICM Paris Brain Institute), also delivered oral presentations of their research. The Best Oral Presentation Prize was awarded to Mohannad Dabbour following a closely scored competition.

The day concluded with a network dinner, offering an informal opportunity for continued discussion and collaboration among speakers, supervisors and fellows. The event marked a strong showcase of GLIORESOLVE science and an important moment in strengthening links with the wider European neuro-oncology community.
